Read Sonnet 12, will you?

14 Sep

Not everyone can share the same enthusiasm as you do about reading poems or sharing words. It’s a unique activity, not for everyone……

It’s just fourteen lines of Shakespeare

You would be lucky to read it

And be part of history,

As Shakespeare, a man or a bundle of men,

Means English to some degree.

So can I share?

Please darling hear me read.

Why are you so hostile?

You read the paper, don’t you, everyday over tea,

Everyday predictable the deaths and their reasons,

Everyday four thousand in a city,

Four thousand reasons to read.

The newspaper is turned.

Well, missionaries do fail.

I like this – I share your sigh! Missionaries who think they’ve failed, though, may have effects they didn’t see.
